Online Pain Assessment
The PPP (Personal Pain Paradigm) Pain Assessment is a breakthrough in the understanding and treatment of chronically painful medical conditions. It is based upon the paradigm of principles and strategies for maximizing pain relief detailed in Dr. Tim’s book, ABCs of Pain Relief and Treatment: Advances, Breakthroughs, and Choices. It is the first pain inventory designed to provide life-changing information to pain sufferers themselves, rather than their doctors. Based upon your unique responses, you will learn the specific changes you can make to have less pain.
The PPP consists of 170 True-False statements about your pain and suffering that requires 10-15 minutes to complete. You will receive a 30+ page report that assesses your pain experience across 31 dimensions or scales. Some of the scales assess how your pain is affecting you, e.g., Depression, Anxiety, Mental Function, or Pain Preoccupation. Some scales measure how you are affecting your pain, e.g., Pain control, Distraction, and Exercise. Other scales assess how you are affecting your medical treatment, e.g., Physician Communication, and Treatment Compliance. But, all of the scales provide descriptions of specific things you can do to have less pain and enjoy more physical, social, pleasurable, and productive activity.
The PPP Pain Assessment also generates a single, summary scale that assesses the extent to which factors other than tissue damage are affecting your pain and injury. This scale gives you vital information about the probability that you will benefit from additional medical treatments. This will help you make crucial decisions about painful procedures and surgeries.
Ultimately, the PPP educates you about where your attention and effort should be focused to achieve the best possible pain relief. It is the most important tool in developing your Personal Pain Paradigm as your life guide to pain relief. You learn the areas of strength from which you can draw power and hope. You learn your areas of weakness where your perseverance will provide maximal pain relief.
The PPP is the beginning of your changing path to pain relief. It provides you with the best possible information about your unique pain experience. It is integral to your healthy Personal Pain Paradigm and the reinforcement of your Pain-Resistant Personality.
